How we do it and what products we use...

To get the results you want quickly and efficiently you're going to need effective equipment.  There's nothing worse than standing back to survey all your hard work only to feel deflated when the result isn't quite what you were hoping for.

At All About Housekeeping we love products and equipment that work - we use them every day all day- so everything we use has to be effective, robust and of course Eco Friendly.

Let's start with the basics, vacuum cleaners, the options are endless, but we like a vacuum that is not too heavy, can move around quickly and easily and has a few functions that are easy to switch between, for carpets, hard floors, stairs and walls, it needs to be a good all rounder.  So we recommend the Miele 10660870 Complete C3 Total Solution Allergy PowerLine Bagged Vacuum Cleaner.

Mops - it's one of those items in your home that induces a slight shudder when you think it's lurking in the corner harbouring a billion damp germs! But not all floors can be steam cleaned so it's the old mop that needs to come out for general cleaning, removing paw prints and spillages - so we recommend the Vileda Turbo Microfibre Mop

It spins the head almost dry - perfect for wooden floors, it has a telescopic handle to save space and best of all you can easily clip the head on and off and throw it in the washing machine after use, so buy a few heads and have a few spare (perfect for new puppies!)

Choosing a new vacuum cleaner is like trying to buy a new car or a new buggy for your baby, the options are mind boggling - you're going to use it often, it needs to suit you physically, not too heavy or cumbersome, you need to be able store it conveniently and not dread the moment you  unleash it from the cupboard and it springs open and tubes start flailing around jettisoning spare parts like unwanted baggage.
And finally, and most importantly, it needs to work edge to edge easily and effectively.

First, consider your physical needs, can you lift only the lightest cleaner, or do you require something a little more robust, do you suffer from allergies (hello Hepa filter.)
Then, consider your environment.  Do you live in a flat, house or bungalow..or mansion?
How often are you going to use it, do you have pets, children. Do you have stairs - what storage space do you have?
And finally, what kind of flooring are you going to use it on?  Carpet, wood, tiles or all of the above?

First I'm going to start with my favourite all rounder the Miele Complete Total Solution

The first thing you notice when you unpack this little vacuum cleaner is that it is not heavy nor large but it most certainly packs power!  It has all the buttons for functionality on the top for carpets, hard floors or soft furnishings even delicate rugs and even a quiet setting so you don't disturb your wife or children while they relax. You can easily tap the ON/Off  and rewind cable with your foot and  the different brush heads are neatly encased in the top.

This vacuum can reach and manoeuvre into the tightest spots and the parquet head is brilliant for vacuuming walls and ceilings with a quick swipe! And with a Hepa filter on board you can rest assured that the vacuum isn't going to hurl the nasties back into the atmosphere of your home.

Finally the carpet beating head.  Kids, dogs and their associated debris will be easily sept up with this dynamic tool.

It needs vacuum bags easily ordered from Amazon but they do last a surprisingly long time.

All round cleaning score 10/10
